King Solomon had many wives and concubines . So obviously having more
than one wife and some on the side is acceptable to God . But that is
not the moral of this tale .
1 Kings 11:3 " and he had seven hundred wives , princesses, and 300
concubines "
The thing here is the consequence of having more than one wife . the
nagging of the ones that nag . One good wife is great . two good wives
may be great but one nagging wife will ruin your day .
The King says about this :
" A nagging wife annoys like a constant dripping " ( Proverbs 19:13 )
" It is better to dwell in the corner of a housetop , than with a
brawling woman in a wide house " ( Proverbs 21:9 )
" It is better to live alone in the desert than with a crabby ,
complaining wife " Proverbs 21:19 )
I can only imagine that with so many wives , concubines etc . he had
more than a few squabbles going on in his castle .
